Release Date: August 27 2012

Release Info:
The album, the full-length, the long player; an artist’s showcase, a look into one’s creative mind, his deepest secrets, fears, failures, and triumphs. Generally, an album serves one of two functions. The first being a club-centric compilation that feels a lot like listening to 6 EPs one after another resulting only in the reassurance that yes, this artist can still satisfy a dance floor. The second works as a genuine exposé of an artist’s creativity, music knowledge, and intelligence, but most of all reminds us that there is a human behind the music; a human that understands not all Techno should be enjoyed under the shade of a Funktion One. “Shortcake Strategy” is Falko Brocksieper’s third full length and it exemplifies the ladder. Though the introduction might feel like a familiar place in between synthesizers and kick drums, it’s merely a beginning; not at an indication of what is to follow. Within seconds of hearing “Avoid”, it doesn’t take long to acknowledge this is something truly different.
“Heavy Day”, Brocksieper’s last album was released in 2008 on his own Sub-Static imprint. It was, like all of the releases before, high quality Tech-House. It contained moments of song-like beauty, but nonetheless remained connected to a minimalistic approach. Five years later, Falko’s growth is clear. In “Shortcake
Strategy”, fairytale-like melodies are backed with thought provoking harmonies that pave the way for an explicitly visual experience. We have been introduced to a new face of the Berlin-based producer. Shortcake is a simple recipe. It doesn’t take a lot of planning or much thought or attention when preparing it, and in the end, it will be light, fluffy, sweet, and perfectly satisfying. Falko might say the same about his approach to the creation of “Shortcake Strategy”, yet the end product sees his most dynamic and emotional productions to date, leaving us with the feeling that this comes from a strategy that requires far more thought, and is far more complicated than that of a sugary dessert.

I’m really glad to introduce the new JETT vinyl. Andri’s sound is really amazing : smart, sharp and produced with his heart and guts. How don’t fall in love with his Longtimewasters track which perfectly associate melo mood and groovy rhythm. On the flip Lamborgotii xt3000 is a minimal house anthem with some disco touches which smells the spring. On the remixers side my goooood Spanish friends from “La Mancha” Carlos & David rock the original with their deep and dark influences…Follow these guys they are on the way of success with releases on Leftroom, OFF, Sintope and of course JETT !! Finally I do the other remix and I hope you will like it. Cheers friends and don’t forget to follow JETT.

Release Info:

Smiley Fingers welcomes Dave Seaman & Andy Chatterley onto its roster, two reputable producers notable for their work with seminal labels such as Global Underground, Renaissance and Saved. This release comprises three versions of title track ‘Toxic Picnic’, the first of which is the ‘Hot Mix’, a melodic slice of house with weighty drums, an insistent low-end bounce and evolving synthesizers acting as its driving force. Up next is the ‘Cool Mix’ and as the name would suggest things are toned down and dubbed out here, the lead piano takes the reins as the dominant force, while hi-strings and fluttering synths simply meander around the direct structure. To close the release Crosstown Rebels, Freerange artist Pezzner delivers a remix of ‘Toxic Picnic’, the american producer provides his signature warm, melodic house here stripping back the vibe to a more ethereal state.

Release Info:
Following two acclaimed EP’s on KOMPAKT and more than a year of meticulous preparation, COMA’s (Marius Bubat and Georg Conrad) much-anticipated album debut IN TECHNICOLOR (KOMPAKT 279 CD 106) will see the light of day via KOMPAKT in April 2013. In advance of this incisive event, the band gives you a taste of the opulences to be expected with the 12” release of MY ORBIT (KOMPAKT 278) – one of the album’s surefire highlights escorted by two brilliant remixes from upcoming luminaries DAUWD and CLOUDS.

Laying out a richly adorned web of ridiculously catchy synth riffs, highly versatile beats and general leftfield extravaganza, IN TECHNICOLOR brings you two electronic producers very much willing to confide their sometimes unassertive perfectionism, now mutating into rackety, venturesome musicians before your very ears. Interstellar ballad MY ORBIT is but one of many wooing album moments tracing the impact pattern of the muse’s kisses, but it perfectly encapsulates the adventurous spirit exuded from COMA in 2013. A true pop epic at heart, this cut wanders a steepening path until it reaches its full-blown vocal climax sung by an android choir, happily veering off into glistening bleep disco territory shortly afterwards.

COMA have never been shy of participating in the work of others or have them participate, as can be seen on IN TECHNICOLOR which is spiked with zealous guest performances from fellow artists running the whole gamut of contemporary pop culture. With this in mind, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when the remixers of MY ORBIT turn out to be highly diversified producers exhibiting a similar thirst for sonic discovery. With DAUWD and CLOUDS, two upstarts hailing from UK’s vast post-dubstep landscape enter the Kompakt stage, with the first one delivering a soulful, life-affirming reinterpretation steering close to the alluring original, while the second one revamps it into a sweaty, hard-hitting bass jam. Chock-full of beans, that’s what we are.

Release Info:
Following up his EP ‘String Theory’ on Simple, Julian “October” Smith has teamed up with label head Will Saul, for ‘Light Sleeper’,Aus Music’s final release of 2012.The EP comes with a remix from Kompakt boss Michael Mayer.
Jules &Will met last year whenWill relocated to Somerset and they seemed to click instantly in the studio.A natural division of labour emerged which proved to be both effective and fun whilst also playing to both’s strengths. Jules mans the drum machines and outboard FX and Will controls the synths….they hit record and see what happens. Look out for another 12″ from them in Feb next year with a remix from Fred P.

October’s profile has been steadily rising since the launch of his first label, Caravan Records in 2007. In the last few years, his brand of off-kilter house and techno has also appeared on Skudge, Misericord, Jack Off and Applepips, and been championed by the likes of Ewan Pearson, Skudge and Appleblim. Smith’s label ‘TANSTAAFL’, has been widely praised by the music press, and sets the course for more of the jacking dancefloor house and techno he is known for.
This year Will Saul revealed he was behind Close, a project he’s created as a vehicle for his forthcoming album ‘Getting Closer’ and a A/V show which will feature Will on various machines and Al Tourettes on drums all backed with lovingly crafted visuals created & mixed by Silent Studios. The A/V show debuts at Fabric on the 23rd February and the album will be released in May 2013 on !K7 and features vocals from Joe Dukie of Fat Freddies Drop, Peacefrog artist Charlene Soraia and Paul ‘Tikiman’ St.Hillaire as well as collaborations with Scuba, Appleblim, Ewan Pearson, and of course October. In the eight years since Michael Mayer released his debut album “Touch”, he’s maintained a tightly packed schedule of DJ gigs and remixes. In 2012, he released Mantasy, his long-awaited second album via Kompakt.

For its 17th release Dame-Music has associated label owner Bloody Mary with upcoming artist Attan to express the feeling of love through their music.A brand new collaboration for them that introduce us to Bloody Mary voices as she is singing for the first time ever on her music. The header of the Ep “Love Talk“ opens up on a deep but energetic blend of drums and pads heading to melancholy with Attan and Bloody Mary voices sustained by an high pitched melody. On his own for “Bipolar“ Attan enter a darker side of the love story with a vicious melody and heavy house bass directed by a classic and original drum set pattern. For the finale we are back with the duo on a sentimental electronica tune made 100% out of analog instrument including TR-606, Juno 106 topped with Mary’s vocals.
